The 2nd Pill š
This week includes: Black Tower in London, Trams in Amsterdam, virtual storefronts in Japan.
š Hi,Ā
This week on the menu we have:
šŗĀ Movie / seriesĀ /Ā shortĀ -Ā The Black Tower from 1987Ā (Just Watch,Ā YoutubeĀ or do some digginā) - Iāve given this short movie as an exampe of psychogeography-related movie inĀ one of my essays, but The Black Tower works perfectly without philosophical context. Eerie, so close to normal life, yet so deeply rooted in magical realism.Ā Ā
š§Ā Album to listen toĀ -Ā Ā Saib - BabopĀ - (SpotifyĀ /Ā Bandcamp) - It always amazes me how, through remix culture and all of its branches, various tunes, songs, and sounds have gained new meanings and emotions. Saib took the best (in terms of sound) fromĀ "Cowboy Bebop"Ā and gave it a new spin, so we have nostalgia for all those who know the series, but also a nice relaxation piece along the way.
š®Ā Game to playĀ -Ā TramsterdamĀ - Browser gaming has been a lot on my mind recently, as it provides a great place for both, experimentation, POCing a game and hussle-free gametitles and requires no efford and hardware, apart from time-investment. Tramsterdam is a lovely (but addicvite)Ā minimalistĀ Amsterdam-inspired town builder with trams - nothing more, nothing less.Ā
šĀ Book to readĀ -Ā Henepola Gunaratana -Ā Mindfulness in Plain EnglishĀ (Goodreads,Ā World Of Books,Ā Bookfinder) -Ā Finally, a book that demystifies meditation, presenting it as a practical self-help tool rather than a mystical panacea that is separated from psychology. Reading through this and than comparing this to all of the noise generated by meditaiton apps (most of them look like tiny health-centers with loats of rooms)Ā and how complex they can be is an exercise I recommend.Ā
šŖĀ ToolĀ -Ā DropoverĀ - The world of Appleās app developers is full of people trying to fill even the smallest holes in the way we work and interact with the system, even to the smallest detail, such as the ādrag and dropā mechanic. If you move a lot of files on a daily basis, this one will be a blessing.Ā
š±Ā Internet WWWĀ -Ā Japan Book HunterĀ - When setting up a online store is realitively easy (with more in-depth internet ecom oppurtunities incoming), I really admire the Instagram storefronts of obscure and niche initiatives, which remind me of all kinds of small businesses located in a physical word. Rather than engaging into a buying spree on the āJBHā, I use the page as a discoverability tool for all that is weird, obscure and unknown to me from the Japanese culture and I suggest you do it too.Ā
Inhale the narratives, get inspired, pass it forward.Ā
