The 5th Pill - The Three Jokers, why people make movies and Sudoku alternative
This week includes: guitar ambience, magic crystal and astral gold
👊 Hi,
(Last week I was researching music in Amsterdam so there was no update, sorry for that. I’m also adding the “Lecture / podcast” some of you asked me to)
This week on the menu we have:
📺 Movie / series / short - Magic Crystal (Just Watch, Youtube or do some diggin’) - My theory about Chinese apps, streaming, and e-commerce being so cluttered, fast, and efficient is because of the Chinese tradition of time efficiency that you can see in their movies. Magic Crystal puts dynamic fighting scenes, aliens, Indiana Jones-references, slapstic humor, some sightseeing in Greece and ET-kinda story into one hour and thirty minutes - this is just WOW.
🎧 Album to listen to - Dean McPhee - Astral Gold (Spotify / Bandcamp / Youtube) - After wathcing “Paris, Texas” some years ago, I embarked on a discovery tour connected with Americana, slide guitar, and instrumental ambient, and stumbled upon Dean McPhee's discography, from which Astral Gold is one of the most recent additions. It is mesmerizing and works perfectly with the golden autumn we are currently experiencing in Poland.
🎤 Lecture / podcast to listen to - The Daniels at SXSW - I had the privilege of listening to this talk live at In Motion Rotterdam two years ago, and I remember it greatly resonated with me - not only as a person who loves to create things (for my own pleasure, I do not earn a living by making art) but as a person who enjoys art and listening to the creative process. The Daniels mix empathy, filmmaking, creating love products with community impact into a talk that is both impactful and mind-blowing - this is how it should be done.
🎮 Game to play - Logiart Grimoire - Not as popular as Sudoku or Wordle, Nonograms can be efficient, challenging, frustrating, lovable, and funny, but never boring. This is why I think they are the perfect (yet addictive) companion for both long and short travels.
📖 Book to read - Batman: The Three Jokers (Goodreads, World Of Books, Bookfinder) - While "Arkham Asylum" and "The Killing Joke" are the most well-known stories from the Batman universe, the Caped Crusader's world is filled with many other, lesser-known but equally creative additions to the lore. Starting with the premise of "what if there were three Jokers instead of one", this is a short but rewarding and refreshing journey in the DC universe.
🪄 Tool - Raindrop - I often get asked where I store all of my digital stuff like links, pictures, and PDFs. (PDFs and reports can be tricky, so I have an additional Dropbox folder for them.) Some more general AI improvements, and this will be like my brain on steroids.
📱 Internet WWW - Nothing interesting this week :(
Inhale the narratives, get inspired, pass it forward.
✌️
